Abstract

Introduction: scientific evidence indicates that the speed of the arterial pulse wave is associated with cardiovascular risk and predicts future events, including mortality. In this review, the results of metaanalysis are presented, to support its implementation in preventive health services. Methodology: The PubMed database was used, under the following search strategy: ("Press Wave Velocity") and ("Cardiovascular Disease" or "Heart Disease") and ("Metaanalysis"), the metaanalysis related merely with cardiovascular health, omitting the metaanalysis that included pregnant patients, pediatric population and with autoimmune or inflammatory diseases with the exception of atherosclerosis. Results: 13 metaanalysis studies were obtained, which provide an integral vision of the relationship between arterial rigidity, endothelial function, and various interventions, from the use of electronic cigarettes to pharmacological therapy and physical activity. Although there are advances in the understanding of these aspects, the continuous need for additional research to refine preventive and treatment strategies in the cardiovascular field is highlighted. Conclusion: pulse wave rate emerges as an essential marker in the evaluation of cardiovascular risk, offering a valuable tool to customize attention and improve long -term results.
