Abstract

The field of physiotherapy encompasses the treatment of a diverse range of conditions, including the restoration of skin integrity when it has been compromised by external agents that cause disruption in the layers that comprise the skin. This case demonstrates that energetic modalities are an effective treatment option for closing a skin wound resulting from contusion or trauma. The patient is a 58-year-old male with a familial and occupational history. He sustained direct trauma to the right lower extremity due to a motor vehicle collision with a motorcycle, leading to an open fracture of the cuboid bone and a transsyndesmotic fracture of the fibula. The fibula fracture caused functional disability and an open wound on the right foot. The approach employed consisted of manual techniques and therapeutic exercise. However, for the remodeling of the scar, energetic modalities such as deep oscillation and magnetotherapy were utilized, achieving the closure and natural appearance of the scar and thus completing the treatment objectives.
