Abstract

The Latin American Academy of Disability and Child Development (ALDID) is made up of more than 350 health, education and social service professionals, who work together in the treatment of children and young people with neurodiversity, neurodevelopmental disorders , complex chronic diseases, and childhood onset disability, through the dissemination of education, training and research.

In collaboration with the Santa Paula University of Costa Rica, ALDID held the "IV Congress of the Latin American Academy of Child Development and Disability (ALDID)-Brazil", which took place completely virtually on November 12 and 13, 2021. The theme of the congress was "Collaborating in a world in transition" and it brought together health and education professionals, representatives of the State (Health, Education, Social) and Civil Society (NGOs, Families and People with Disabilities) to demonstrate the progress scientists in the field of child disability as a bridge to ensure quality and full participation in the lives of children and young people with disabilities.

This special section presents a large selection of abstracts of free papers presented during the congress, selected and reviewed by the Scientific Committee of the Congress.

The Scientific Committee of the IV ALDID Congress was made up of 28 professionals from various areas related to child development and disability, from countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Spain. Ninety-two high-quality works were selected, of which 52 were presented as an e-poster and 40 as a video.

The abstracts were distributed among 6 thematic areas: Advances in the diagnosis and prevention of cerebral palsy, Diagnostic and evaluation methods, Family-centered care, Early intervention, Participation, and Autism: Diagnosis and treatment.
